Adele

AdeleAdele Mara April 28, 1923 - May 7, 2010) was an American actress, singer, and dancer, who was featured in films throughout the 1950s and 1940s, as well as on television in the 1950s and 1960s. Adele St. Mara became her professional name when she was offered a contract from Columbia Pictures[citation neededto be cited. She had experience in comedy shorts and feature films for the studio's "B". The name was then changed to Adele Mara. Mara began her professional career as a receptionist in the Three Stooges movie I Can Hardly Wait. Mara Brooks and Leslie Brooks were the sisters of Rita Hayworth in the Fred Astaire movie You Were Never Lovelier. In Alias Boston Blackie (1942) she takes on the leading female role as the sister of an escaped and wrongfully found guilty convict. She joined Republic Pictures after her Columbia contract was ended. The studio specialized in films based on westerns and outdoor adventures. She was a part of in The Vampire's Ghost, Wake of the Red Witch featuring John Wayne, Angel In Exile (leading woman), Sands of Iwo Jima in which John Agar's lover, California Passage and Don Siegel's Count the Hours.
