Bleta "Bebe" Rexha was born on August 30, 1989 on the 30th of August in Brooklyn, New York City, New York and raised in Staten Island, New York City, New York to Bukurije Rexha (nee Isai) & Flamur Rexha. They immigrated with their father in the U.S. when he was 21 years old. The Albanian language, the word blete translates to "bee" which is why she clarified "My parents were Albanian and they started calling me Bebe to mean short." After signing in 2013 with Warner Bros. Records in 2013, Rexha has been credited as a songwriter for Eminem and Rihanna's single "The Monster" (which was later awarded the Grammy Award for Best Rap/Sung Performance) as well as contributed songwriting to songs recorded by Selena Gomez and Nick Jonas.
